Militants attack SPDC trunk line in Delta
WARRI—SUSPECTED militants, yesterday, attacked a major crude oil exports
trunk line close to Odimodi community in Delta State.
It was gathered that the trunk line, Trans-Ramos, belongs to Shell Petroleum
Development Company, SPDC.
Confirming the incident on phone to Vanguard, a resident of the community,
Endoro New-world, said: “The incident occurred at 1a.m., with the intensity of
the blast shaking apartments in the community amidst a huge ball of fire.
“At sunrise, a group from the community in company of SPDC's surveillance
team was able to locate the site of the blast.”
The attack is coming 10 days after some suspected militants tied up two
hunters and left their items, including dynamites, cables and a shovel behind
after they failed to excavate the spot to be exploded on the trunk line amidst a
downpour.
It was gathered that the hunters managed to escape and alerted the Odimodi
community vigilante, which came to the scene of the incident with security
agents from the SPDC platform.
