Gunmen kill 11 in 3 Kaduna villages

Eleven persons were killed when some gunmen attacked three villages near
Godogodo town in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State in raids that
lasted several hours yesterday.
The villages are Gada Biyu, Akwa’a and Angwan Anjo.
Scores were also injured while parts of one of the villages were torched, a
source who called from the village informed newsmen on phone.
Six men and three women were reportedly killed in Gada Biyu and two men died
at Akwa’a. At Anguwan Anjo, though no life was lost, shooting was said to be
going on even at the time of going to press.
The source said the gunmen invaded Gada Biyu, 2 kms from Godogodo, around
6 am on Monday and started shooting and burning houses.
He said people fled in different directions but the Police were quick to arrive and
the invaders fled into the bushes, leaving four corpses, while five more bodies
were later found.
He said, “When the killers escaped from Gida Biyu, they resurfaced at Akua’a
this morning and killed two people. But they did not burn any house there. The
Police arrived on time again, and they ran away. But this afternoon they
appeared at Agwan Anjo and started shooting. But by this time people had fled
the village, and the police also arrived promptly. However, about an hour ago,
the police, who have not had any rest, went to get some food in town. Now, I
am sure if you listen very well you can hear the sound of heavy gun fire. They
are shooting from afar.”
State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman, promised to check the
details and call back but never did at the time of sending this report.
