Yari, Zamfara Assembly feud will soon be resolved — APC chair

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Alhaji

Lawali Abubakar Kaura, said yesterday that they are working hard to resolve
the crisis between the members of the state house of assembly and Governor
Abdulaziz Yari.
Briefing news men shortly after the meeting of the State Executive Council
(SEC) of the party, yesterday, Kaura said the problem between Governor Yari
and state legislators was blown out of proportion by the media.
The state legislators were threatening to impeach the governor after accusing
him of various breaches, including misappropriating billions of naira from the
state’s coffers.
At the height of the crisis, the speaker of the assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Garba
Rikiji, his deputy, Muhammad Abubakar Gumi, the majority leader, Isah
Abdulmumini and the chief whip, Abdullahi Dansadau, were detained at the
offices of the Department of State Service (DSS) Abuja, but later released.
“What is happening between the governor and the legislature, as being
portrayed in the media, is nothing but sensationalism. The disagreement would
soon be over,” he said.
The state chapter of the APC had on Wednesday threatened to sanction
members of the state assembly if they refused to apologise to Governor Yari.
