NDA militants launch 5 new attacks
The Niger Delta Avengers
Militant group the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) yesterday claimed it launched
five attacks in the Niger Delta region at the weekend, the first since June 16
after the government said it had engaged them on a cease fire deal.
The group said in a series of messages on its Twitter feed that it attacked a
pipeline connected to the Warri refinery operated by Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC), adding that on Saturday night it blew up two lines close to
Batan flow station in Delta state run by NPDC, a subsidiary of the NNPC. The
group said in the early hours of Sunday it blew up two major Chevron Oil wells,
Well 7 and Well 8 close to Abiteye flow station in Delta State.
“All five operations were carried out by @NDAvengersstrike team. Well done
soldiers,” it said in a tweet yesterday morning.
NNPC and Chevron could not immediately be contacted to speak on the claims.
