APC has not proven it won 2015 elections — Adamu Ciroma
Malam Adamu Ciroma
A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Malam Adamu
Ciroma, said yesterday that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has not
proven to Nigerians that it won the 2015 general elections.
Ciroma said the APC-led federal government has not impacted positively on the
lives of ordinary Nigerians, and should be challenged for not delivering the
desired change to the nation.
Addressing members and leaders of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), led by
Senator Walid Jibrin, who visited him at his residence in Abuja, yesterday,
Ciroma said the PDP remains the party to beat in the 2019 general elections.
He called on the APC to play what he called “the rightful role”, by ensuring that
“ordinary Nigerians” feel the impact of its governance.
“Politics must always be there and there must be people to participate in it. But
we must ensure the economic stability of the ordinary citizens. Every party that
has the chance to rule also has the chance to make mistakes, but, I insist,
people must play the right role in politics and that role must impact positively
on the ordinary people.
“I want the APC to play the rightful role. They talked about the PDP now as if
the APC does not exist. The APC must make mistakes, so, all of you (PDP
leaders) must be ready.
“I warned PDP leaders before the elections, that they should be ready for any
eventuality that takes place.
“Today, PDP didn’t lose and APC didn’t win because APC has a lot to do,” he
said.
BoT chairman Walid Jibrin said the visit was to seek advice from Ciroma on
how to deepen internal democracy in the PDP and Nigeria at large.
Also, a former minister of Information, Prof Jerry Gana, who was part of the
delegation, said “Nigeria is going through difficult times.” Dailytrust
