                                                  Gov. Samuel Ortom

– Ortom vows to sack aides connected to the death of his security aide,
Denen Igbana
– Eight were arrested over the killing of Igbana
– Sources say Ortom is very angry
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state is ready to wield the big stick on
some top government functionaries arrested by the police, and are being
interrogated over the gruesome murder of his security aide, Denen Igbana.
According to a report on Leadership, the governor is angry over the death of
his security aide and may soon sack some of the top government
functionaries connected to Igbana killing.

The men of the CID at the Benue state police command had last Friday, June
3, arrested a special adviser to the governor (name withheld), and seven
others over alleged killing of special assistant to the governor on security,
Igbana.
This further triggered the ire of Governor Ortom who had said in a press
statement signed by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase, “that he will not
shield anyone that is found by security operatives to be connected to the
killing of his aide, no matter how highly placed.”
It was gathered that Ortom has vowed to sack the invited top government
functionaries that were being interrogated by the police, should they refused
to resign their appointments.

NAIJ.com recalls that the killing of Igbana had propelled fervent prayers and
fasting to dedicate Benue to God, during which Governor Ortom laid bare and
cried profusely for divine intervention.

Ortom urged Christians in the state to fortify themselves with prayers and
declared that anybody waiting to see if his administration would fail would
be put to shame.
Denen Igbana was murdered after gunmen invaded his house around 2.30am
on Friday, May 20, and shot him dead. Governor Samuel Ortom had vowed to
fish out killers of his Igbana.
According to him, the assassination of his aide is irreparable, adding that the
death was a heavy blow to him and the entire administration.
He promised to quickly mobilize security agencies to unravel the killing and
fish out the culprits.
